He knew that this elitist attitude - which sometimes permeates the professional fighting realm - was not all encompassing and that there were others like him out there unaffiliated with a big Gym and/or unbelted looking for a good venue to fight in. That’s why he started NY Fight Club (now MMA Fight Club) over 2 years ago, and it’s been all uphill since then; with features on WPIX TV, in the LI Pulse Magazine and online at Newsday’s Explore LI helping to increase the buzz and build the brand, the last two fights have completely sold out. "MMA Fight Club caters to any tough guy that wants to get in the ring. This is what truly sets our shows apart from other so called amateur MMA fighting events that are really just showcases for the big dojos who are trying to promote a handful of their own fighters. At MMA Fight Club, any bar brawler who is willing to get into shape can fight!" McFeeley said. In addition to taking this grass roots approach, McFeeley and his team always have a number of the top fighters in the area on their card. This time, for MMA Fight Club 5 on Friday Nov 6, they are making it even more interesting: the main event features 2 of the toughest women in the world - Maria Didio from Combat Mixed Martial Arts in Massapequa, who is fresh of her gold medal victory this summer in the Judo World Championships, against Krista Abidin, who is the reigning NAGA jiu-jitsu champion - in a submission grappling match. The Co-main event is a Muay Thai fight between renowned local fighters John Christ and Scott Millan. There are 15 fights in all, including Kickboxing, Muay Thai, San Da and submission grappling. Need another fun fact to make this an event to remember? There is even a mother and son match scheduled - not against each other, but on the same card!! Krista Abido’s 16 year old son Anthony, of Bellmore is 16 and will be in one of the early undercard bouts. Additionally, and equally important, McFeeley is putting out a casting call to anyone who thinks they have what is takes to be on a future MMA Fight Club Card. "We especially like former wrestlers who are willing to learn a some stand up and then fight a San Da match." he said.
